Assessment

Free Royalty Scanfree

We check the public record for whether you're set up to get paid, and send back a short written read within 5 business days, written by a person.

  • Whether your songs are registered with your PRO and the MLC
  • Who's listed as your publisher
  • Whether your credits are attached and your profiles claimed
  • What's set up, what's missing, and what can't be seen from outside

Royalty & Revenue Review$297

We open your distributor, PRO and publishing setup, hand back a written fix-it plan in the order things should be done, and walk you through it on a 30-minute call. You leave with:

  • A royalty tracker and an account checklist
  • Registration walkthroughs for your PRO, the MLC and publishing
  • A split sheet for co-written songs
  • A starter checklist for TV and film pitch readiness

What it's not: accounting, filing or collection, and never a promise of a specific dollar amount.

Buy the review, $297Payment first, then we email you for your account details and book the walkthrough. The $297 is non-refundable once purchased.
Artist Standing Report$395

The assessment an agency runs before deciding whether to take someone on, written for you instead of about you. Two stages over about three weeks, and nothing reaches the final report until you've confirmed the facts. You leave with a read on:

  • Your numbers against named comparable artists
  • Your credits, release history and live history
  • How someone deciding whether to work with you would read it today
  • The two or three things that would most change that read

What it's not: a score, a verdict on your music, or a prediction.

  • The tools it asks for, already started: royalty tracker, split sheet, outreach list

Operations

Custom Dashboard$1,500

One page in a browser, populated before it reaches you. You keep it current in minutes a week. When you open it:

  • The next release, and how many weeks out it's
  • What has to happen before that date
  • What you earned last month, and where it came from
  • Which shows are confirmed
  • What's overdue
Open a full dashboard and click around it
Scope it on a call$1,500. Yours outright, not a subscription.
Custom Dashboard & Workspace$2,900

The same page, plus an Airtable base underneath it with your trackers already wired in. The dashboard is what you check; the base is where you actually work.

  • Your catalog, and who owns what
  • Money in and money out
  • Booking contacts and show history
  • Content and deadlines

Both sizes come with setup notes, a maintenance guide, a recorded walkthrough, two weeks of support, and one revision round. If you stop working with us, nothing switches off.

What artists said afterward

Real names, real projects, and links to their music.

I've always known I needed to be an artist, but honestly I had no idea how to make my art viable enough to be a career. Now I can create and write without fearing that I'm running in place. We have a plan and the structure to turn my goals with music into a reality.
Emma Zeck · Pagan Folk · Gothic Americana
I had the vision but not the strategy to realize it. With Dougie, we broke everything down and rebuilt it from the ground up together. Now I have a plan and a process I trust, one that's getting me closer to my goals every day. And he genuinely cares.
Adi Rao · Alt-Soul / Indian Classical Roots
Songs were pouring out, but I had a hard time packaging them in a way that felt true to me as an artist. Dougie gave me honest feedback and an outside perspective on how I already move through the world, and now I have a clear branding strategy for my first album, the content, the cover art, and everything in between.
Tobias Lund · Singer-songwriter
I didn't actually know what the pathway was to being a successful indie artist, let alone what the next step was. Working with Dougie made the vision crystal clear, with an actual monthly roadmap of how to make it happen. Now I know concretely where we're headed and where I need to be spending my energy on a daily basis.
Swim · Alt-R&B · Bedroom Soul

How it works

  1. Book the $49 call.
  2. A short form comes with your confirmation. Fill in what you can. We read it before we meet, so the call opens on your own catalog, dates and numbers.
  3. You get the exact scope and a fixed price in writing before paying anything, and that price is what you pay.
  4. We build it, then walk you through it live so you can run it yourself.

The Roster

Well Made Plays manages a roster of artists in Austin. This is the playbook we run for all our artists.

Questions, answered plainly

Why is the first call paid?
To keep the calendar serious. It's $49, and it comes off the price of any project you book within 30 days, so it costs nothing if you go ahead.
What if it's not a fit?
Then we say so on the call and point you toward someone better suited. If you finish the call without a clearer next step than you came in with, tell us and we'll refund it. You're never on the hook to buy anything.
Do you take a commission or any rights?
No. We charge one flat fee and never take a percentage of your income, your masters, or your publishing. You pay for the work once, you own it, and we hand you the tools and the knowledge the business usually keeps out of artists' hands.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. Almost every project can split into two or three payments, arranged after your call; the only exceptions are the $49 Discovery Call and the $297 Royalty & Revenue Review. On a project of $997 and up, the deposit comes first and the balance is what splits. If cost is genuinely the only barrier to the Intensive, ask about the sliding scale.
What's the refund and reschedule policy?
Sessions moved or cancelled at least 24 hours ahead are refunded in full; inside 24 hours the fee is kept. Project work runs on a written scope with a deposit, agreed before you pay. The full terms live on one page here.
Do I have to be local?
No. The practice started in Austin and that's where you'll bump into us, but every service works remotely over video calls and shared documents.
How is this different from ongoing review?
This page is one-time project work you keep. Ongoing review is optional: every quarter we update the trackers, review the numbers, and reset the next tasks. Any project can roll into it, and nothing requires it.
What's the dashboard?
One page you open in a browser, built around your catalog and filled in before it reaches you. It shows your next release and what has to happen before that date, what you earned last month and where it came from, which shows are confirmed, and what's overdue. The larger build adds an Airtable base underneath it, where the detail lives that one screen can't hold. Open a full example and click around it. Either size is yours to keep, so nothing switches off if you stop working with us.
Which one should I start with?
If collaborators keep asking what the project is, start with the Brand Workshop. If the next release, tour, or quarter needs a plan, start with the Intensive. If royalty accounts, splits, and reports are messy, start with the Royalty & Revenue Review. If everything is scattered, start with the Dashboard & Workspace.
We run a small label or agency. Can you work with our roster?
Yes. We build the same tools across a roster: a brand document for each act, a calendar for each release, dashboards, booking templates, and revenue checklists your team shares. Roster work is priced separately from the prices above. Email us about your roster.

None of them sound quite right?

That's exactly what the call is for. Bring the thing you can't put into words, and in thirty minutes we'll work out what to do about it.

If you finish the call without a clearer next step than you came in with, tell us and we'll refund it.
