Spotify pitch writer
Spotify for Artists, Spotify's app for musicians, lets you pitch an unreleased song to its playlist editors in up to 500 characters. Answer a few questions to get a draft.
We can plan the whole release with you.
Spotify's editors are one place to pitch. Press, playlist curators, your mailing list and ads are others, and they work best on one schedule.
- Release / Rollout Blueprint $397
A calendar worked back from the release date: every deadline, what to post and when, a release-week checklist, and who to pitch when. We don't pitch playlists for you or promise adds.

Not sure what you need? A 30-minute call (opens in a new tab) costs $49, and the fee comes off any project you book within 30 days. Flat fees, never a percentage of what you earn.
What makes a pitch worth reading
Editors read a lot of these. The ones that work are specific: what the song sounds like, what it's about, who it's for, and what's happening around it. "Our best song yet" tells them nothing. "A slow-burning desert folk song about leaving home, released with a live video and a November tour" tells them where it fits.
- Lead with the sound. Genre and mood in your own words, so they can picture the playlist.
- One line of story. What it's about or how it was made, if it's interesting.
- What's around it. A video, shows, press, ads. Editors like songs with momentum behind them.
- Only real numbers. If you mention a stat, it should be one they can check.
Timing
Spotify asks for the pitch at least 7 days before release so editors have time to listen, and that's also the cutoff for your followers' Release Radar, the new-music playlist Spotify makes for each listener every Friday. You can pitch one song at a time, and never after it's live. Plan pitches into your release timeline.
Questions
How long can a Spotify pitch be?
The description field takes 500 characters, about three or four sentences. This page counts as you type.
When should I pitch?
Spotify asks for at least 7 days before release so editors have time to listen, and that's also the cutoff for your followers' Release Radar. Earlier is better; we pitch three to four weeks out.
Can I pitch more than one song?
One unreleased song at a time. Once it goes live, you can pitch another. A song can't be pitched after it's released.
Does pitching guarantee a playlist?
No. Nobody legitimate guarantees a placement. A good pitch gives editors what they need to say yes, and pitching 7 days out gets the song to your own followers' Release Radar either way.
